BOYLSTON, Mass. – PGA HOPE New England is pleased to announce Carlos Barbeiro has been selected to represent the New England Section at the fifth annual PGA HOPE National Golf and Wellness Week and will be recognized as the third PGA HOPE New England Ambassador. The event will be held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland from October 15th-19th, 2024.

Barbeiro is a resident of Johnston, Rhode Island and currently a Veteran Captain of the PGA HOPE Program at Kirkbrae Country Club. He is also a 2023 PGA HOPE Lincoln graduate.

Barbeiro served in the United States Army from 1996 to 2020 for a total of 27 years of service, retiring as an E7 Sergeant First Class with an Honorable Discharge.

As an active member of his local VFW Post, Barbeiro is always looking for opportunities to utilize his network and resources to benefit the PGA HOPE Program. Through his involvement with the VFW and PGA HOPE, Barbeiro has increased awareness and overall support of the program. He has volunteered numerous hours to various PGA HOPE programs and initiatives and actively participates in the PGA HOPE New England Operation: Play Days. He participated in the 2023 Northeast HOPE Invitational as a representative for Team New England and was a 2024 Northeast HOPE Invitational Player Ambassador. Barbeiro served as a guest speaker at the 2024 New England PGA Section Chapter meetings and volunteered at the 2024 Northeast Golf Expo.

Barbeiro continuously extends his support to new veterans embarking on their journey with PGA HOPE for the first time.

“My objective as a PGA HOPE Ambassador is to ensure the program’s reach extends to as many Veterans as possible, providing them with enriching opportunities for personal growth, community connection, and healing through the transformative power of golf,” said Barbeiro.

Drawing on his background as a form Army recruiter, Barbeiro aims to utilize his expertise to bolster program participation. He makes a consistent effort to reach out to local Golf Professionals, Veteran Organizations, and community groups to encourage involvement and facilitate training opportunities. His main goals within the PGA HOPE Program are to increase volunteer recruitment, broaden outreach efforts, cultivate partnerships, and assess the overall impact with other program leaders.
