Derryfield CC in Manchester hosted the NHC/NEPGA on Tuesday, May 31. Many NHC/NEPGA Pros and Ams have fond memories of playing Junior Golf at Derryfield CC, so there were plenty of stories told on the tee about those memories. The weather played some tricks on the golfers today. It started out warm and calm, then cooled down quickly, then came some wind which blew an abundance of pollen out of the trees. About an hour later the winds calmed and the sun came out making it pleasant to play. Todays team format was 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net.
The Professional Division saw Sam Cody of Stonebridge take first place for the 4th time this season. He shot a 2 under 68 on the par 70 tough up and down course. Matt Arvanitis of SNHU, who shot the course record (62) in last years pro am, shot a 1 under 69 to come in second. Chris Houston of Laconia came in at 2 over 72 to place 3rd. Dan Wilkins, also from Laconia, shot a 3 over 73 to end up in 4th place. Jay Pollini, Todd Rollins, and Steve Poremba shot a 74’s to tie for the 5th spot. Sam Read of Den Brae and Mitch Jefferson of Rochester shot 76’s to take tie for 8th, Vince Molesky of Stonebridge had 77 for the 10th spot.
In the Gross Division the team from Ridgewood led by PGA Professional Jay Pollini came in with a 7 under 63 to share first place. They shared it with the team from Rochester led by PGA Professional Mitch Jefferson. Ridgewood team was Pollini, Tim Melanson, Josh Johnson, and Thomas Hickey. The team from Rochester was made up of Jefferson, Ryan Martel, Sean Johnson, and Josh Parker.
In the Net Division the team from Laconia led by PGA Professional Dan Wilkins came in at 11 under to take the top spot. His team was made up of Steve Wainwright, Mike Handrahan, and Randy Pike. The teams from Den Brea/Sam Read, Laconia/Todd Rollins, and Derryfield/ Steve Poremba all came in with 10 under 60’s to tie for 2nd place.
