The Championship kicks off Tuesday with a special opening ceremony featuring legendary NEPGA Section Professionals Bob Greene, PGA & Toby Ahern, PGA. Each will hit the opening tee shots at their respective clubs where they were longtime Head Golf Professionals. Throughout the remainder of the day, players will navigate the challenges of either Tedesco or Ferncroft before swapping venues for the second round on Wednesday. Following a cut to the low 60 and ties after Round 2, the Championship will culminate on Thursday at Tedesco.
This year’s event is poised to showcase the finest talent in New England golf, as the Section Professionals seek to earn their ticket to the PGA Professional Championship which will be held from April 27-30, 2025 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL.
The memberships at both Tedesco and Ferncroft are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the New England PGA Professionals to their esteemed facilities. Streets and fairways will be lined with spectators hoping to catch a glimpse at some of the best Professional players in New England.
Tedesco Country Club, nestled in the town of Marblehead, boasts meticulously groomed greens, making it a fitting battleground for this year’s Championship. With a commitment to continual enhancement, Tedesco provides a challenging yet rewarding experience for players of all levels.
“It is going to be a great spectator event,” said Tedesco CC Head Golf Professional, Ryan Train, PGA. “It’s going to be great to see the town and the membership support the Championship”.
Meanwhile, Ferncroft Country Club in nearby Middleton offers a classic New England golfing experience. Renowned for its sprawling fairways and green complexes, Ferncroft promises to test the mettle of even the most seasoned Professionals.
Tedesco & Ferncroft are both no stranger to hosting the New England PGA Section Championship. In 2020, Tedesco was the co-host alongside the storied Myopia Hunt Club. Ferncroft has a long history with this event, as a 8-time Championship host. However, this will be the New England PGA Championship’s first visit since 1982.
“I think for us as a facility, it was really good to get back into that Championship conversation,” said Bill Cunningham, PGA (Ferncroft CC Head Professional). “This is the type of venue to host tournaments of this calliber”.
Returning to the field for the 104th NEPGA Section Championship are past champions eager to add another accolade to their resumes. The tournament offers 13 qualifying spots (not including Rich Berberian, Jr. who is exempt) in the 2025 PGA Professional Championship, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition.
The 104th Section Championship is supported both nationally & locally by Corebridge Financial, Rolex, Club Car, Golf Channel, Gallagher, Titleist/FootJoy, TaylorMade, Nike, Callaway, Mohegan Sun, Avidia Bank, Branded Bills, Superior Communications & the PGA Tour.
