DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Cape Cod Chapter was treated to a beautiful day in Dartmouth on Thursday, as Allendale Country Club hosted the fourth Chapter Pro-Am of the 2024 season.
Gregg Richbourg and his Cape Cod National team were not deterred by the extreme June heat, as they stayed cool enough to fire a 7-under 137 in the 2 Best Ball of 4 format. Richbourg’s crew couldn’t savor the lead for long, as Zach Girouard and his team from Old Sandwich finished just 2 groups behind them, matching their 7-under par mark and grabbing a share of the team title.
It was a true tale of two nines for each team, as Cape Cod National came out of the gates firing with five birdies and an eagle on their front nine before settling for even par on their inward half. Old Sandwich turned in the opposite scorecard, stuck in neutral for their front nine of even par before closing with a flawless back side 65 that included three eagles.
There was no shortage of excitement on the individual side of the leaderboard, with three players finishing in bottleneck fashion at the top. Richbourg, John Paesani, and James Cook all signed for even par 72, three shots clear of fourth place.
Paesani closed his round in style, making two birdies in his last five holes, including the lone birdie of the day on the par 3 14th, to fight back to even par. Richbourg got himself to 3-under par following three birdies in a row on 9, 10 and 11, but slipped back to even after suffering three bogeys in his final six holes. Cook was the happy medium of the trio, grabbing his share of first place thanks to a steady scorecard that included two birdies and two bogeys.
On behalf of the entire Cape Cod Chapter, thank you to Allendale Country Club and PGA Professional Bob Giusti for being fantastic hosts!
Coming up next on the Cape Cod Chapter schedule is the White Cliffs CC Pro-Lady, which has been rescheduled to June 27th.
