Another perfect sunny day for the NHC/NEPGA Pro Lady Championship at Derryfield CC, in Manchester. A total of 23 teams participated in the 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net format.

Dan Wilkens of Laconia CC continued his good play this season shooting a 5 under par 65 to take the top spot for the pros. Dan made 5 birdies and an eagle to offset 2 bogies on the day. Matt Arvanitis of SNHU came in at 67 to take 2nd place. Dan and Matt are the top 2 points leaders for the NHC Pro Tournaments. Jason Malcolm of Nashua, Bill Andrews of Portsmouth, and Brett Smestad of Rochester all came in at even par 70 to tie for 3rd.

The team gross division there were four teams tied at 65. In that case the USGA tie breaking system is used. It came down to the last 3 holes between the team of Rochester/Smestad and Laconia/Wilkens. The Rochester team came out on top with an 11 the last 3 holes to Laconia’s 14. The Rochester team consisted Smestad, Joan Cyr, June Ferland, and Lisa Strong. Laconia’s team was Wilkens, Cindy Keenan, Ann Wainwright, and Joanne Dickinson. The other two teams tied at 65 were Bill Andrews team from Portsmouth and Matt Arvanitis’s team from Derryfield.

On the net side it was also a tie for the top. Three teams tied at 59 net. Those teams consisted of Chris Mowers of Nippo Lake with his team Denis Adams, Anne Hogshead and Vicky Mowers. Lake Winnipesaukee team of Eric Aguiar, Jen Hughes, Laura Choma, and Cathy Torrey and the team from Derryfield with Matt Arvanitis, Nancy Lamb, Lynne Heymans, and Liz Lafferty were the other two teams at -11 net.

The highlight of the day was a hole in one by PGA Professional Steve Lundquist of Apple Hill Golf Course. He aced the par three 8th hole. The NHC/NEPGA hole in one pool is at $9,900.00. Steve is hoping no one else scores a hole in one the rest of the season and that money will be his!

Next up is Passacconaway CC Tuesday the 8th for a pro am.

The teams from Rochester and Nippo Lake always have a good time at this event.
