First, it’s important to understand the context many of these enhancements were created within: the American Development Model (ADM) for Golf. If you’ve completed your ADM certification through PGA.Coach, you’re familiar with its core principles, developed through the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). To keep kids engaged in our sport is to understand their individual developmental levels and tailor coaching tactics to motor and foundational skills first.
If you haven’t completed the free ADM training, you can do so in just a few hours at PGA.Coach. This month, you can expect our #Gamechanger Insights newsletters to focus on why ADM is so important, how PGA Jr. League fits within the stages, as well as resources for helping parents understand its benefits for their children.
The PGA Jr. League program enhancements revolve around:
Creating more local league flexibility for you to design programs that fit your needs (like lowering the official league minimum to 24 players).
Adjustments to the postseason to align with ADM (including implementing a minimum All-Star age of 10 and adding 17u postseason opportunities).
As a reminder, our Pre-Registration Planning Tool is designed to help guide you through each step of registration. If you complete before registering, you can email yourself a copy of your answers to input easily during the registration process.
If you have any questions about these program updates or need assistance with registration, please contact your Regional League Manager. When you’re ready, click the button below to be taken directly to 2021 Captain registration.
