A beautiful summer day greeted the 36 NHC/NEPGA Professionals that traveled to Portsmouth CC for the 2022 Pro/Pro Championship. Eighteen teams teed off starting at 11am to try to claim the title for this season. Defending champions Matt Arvanitis and Cory Mansfield (who shot a stunning 11 under last season) led the way off the 1st tee.
The course was in perfect condition, with the greens as speedy as ever, and the wind just enough to play a roll in the round. After nine holes it looked like the team of Arvanitis/Mansfield was going to repeat last years performance and take the title. They had 5 birdies, but had 1 bogie to make the turn at 4 under par. The teams of Sandell/Sedan, Davis/Delois, and Jefferson/Smestad shot 2 under 34’s on the front to trail by 2. Four teams came in at 1 under after nine holes. Those teams were Cody/Hamel, Andrews/Brown, Kish/McGraw, and Prescott/Limauro.
The back nine saw some good play as the wind and played a roll as they headed out to the point. Arvanitis/Mansfield were only able to card 1 birdie offset by 1 bogie on the back and finished at 4 under. The team of Davis/Delois were able to card 4 birdies and 1 bogie to shoot 3 under on the back and end up with a 5 under 67 which enabled them to take the title. The team of Cody/Hamel also shot 33 on the back with 3 birdies and no bogies to also finish at 4 under tied for 2nd place. The team of Sandell/Sedan also came in with a 4 under total to make it a 3 way tie for second place. Kish/McGraw and Andrews/Brown tied for 5th at 3 under par.
Congratulation to Davis/Delois on their victory. Thank you to Portsmouth CC for a great day. The weather was perfect, the fairways plush, and the greens spectacular. We appreciate the use of your facility. Can’t wait to head back to Portsmouth next August for the 2023 Pro/Pro Championship.
