Salem, M.A. – Eight PGA Professionals tied for the top score in the 2025 New England PGA Stroke Play Series #2 at Kernwood Country Club on Monday, July 7th. With humid and sunny weather in the morning into late afternoon winds, this event brought the largest pool of golfers in NEPGA Stroke Play Series history, with over 100 Professionals competing over 18 holes. The eight professionals posted a shared score of even par, 70 to take home the title.

Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC), Brendon Ray, PGA (Point Judith CC), Shawn Warren, PGA (Old Marsh), Eric Barlow, PGA (Winchester CC), Rich Berberian, PGA (Vesper CC), Nick Hallowell, PGA (The Country Club), Chad Penman, PGA (Boothbay Harbor CC), and Matt Baran, PGA (The Ridge Club) all took a place at the top of the leaderboard. 

Dully stayed strong on his home course, with an impressive 2-under on the front 9, posting back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2. Ray started his day hot with an eagle on hole 1, and cruised through the course shooting even on both ends. 

Warren shot a tremendous 2-under on the back nine, with a clutch birdie on 17 and par on 18 to close out his round. Barlow made a statement on the front 9 with 3 birdies on holes 1,3, and 6, adding a 4th on hole 15. 

Even with a double-bogey on 10, Berberian came back with 3 birdies on the back, including back-to-back on holes 17 and 18 to land him at the top with the rest. Hallowell’s 2-under back nine propelled his performance, adding on 13 pars during his round.

Penman’s round was highlighted by a strong 4-birdie round, 2 on the front and the back, and coming in clutch on 17 to round out his day. Baran had one of the best 9-hole stretches out of the field, shooting 3-under, 32 on the back 9 to bring him to even par.
