As the season winds down the weather changes quickly. Today we traveled to Abenaqui CC to play the NHC/NEPGA pro am. The morning temperatures were not warm. About 50 degrees when the 1st group teed off at 8am. The morning sun warmed things up nicely, but a cloudy day made the temps go up and down. It was one of those days where you would take off your sweater one hole and then put it back on the next hole. By the end of the day you have put it on and off 5 or 6 times. Thirty one teams (124 players) competed today in the next to last pro am of the 2023 season. Todays team format is 1 bb gross or 1 bb net.
The pro contest Dan Kish carried his good play of last week to shoot a 3 under 69 to best field. Dan shot a 69 last week to take the top spot at Bald Peak. Host Professional Jim Schouller, came in at 2 under 70 to end up in 2nd place. Joe Finemore of Portsmouth shot a 1 under par 71 to end up 3rd. Jay Pollini of Ridgewood shot and even par 72 to end up 4th. There was a 3 way tie for 5th place at 1 over 73. Jim Gunnare of Crystal Lake, Cory Mansfield of Derryfield, and Mitch Jefferson of Ridgewood all shot 73. Tucker Williams of Abenaqui and Dan Wilkins of Laconia shot a pair of 74’s to tie for 8th place. Vince Molesky and Sam Cody, both of Stonebridge shot 75’s to tie for 10th place.
The team gross division saw the team from The Indoor Golf Club led by Dan Kish come in with an impressive 11 under 61 to win that contest. His team was made up of Eric Byrne. Kieran Altieri, and Cam Perenda. There was a 3 way tie for 2nd with the teams from Abenaqui (Schouller), Derryfield (Poremba), and Rochester (Jefferson).
The team net contest had the team from Portsmouth led by Joe Finemore shoot a 13 under 59 to take top honors. His team consisted of Bill Mahoney, Mike Lewis, and Joe Schults. Second place went to the team from Crotched Mountain led by Tom Bordon and his team of Trevor Lasalle, Geoff Rushlako, and Ryan Hutton.
Thank you to Abenaqui CC for a wonderful fall day to play golf. We are fortunate to have this facility host an event each year. Thank you to Brian Casey of Taylor Made for being our partner for todays event.
Sad words to say, next week we travel to Laconia CC for the final pro am of the season!
