Another glorious fall day greeted the NHC/NEPGA Professionals and their teams at Abenaqui CC in Rye, NH. The morning temps were on the cold side, but the sun warmed the day quickly as the teams teed off. Twenty-nine teams (116 Players) came out today to compete in the 1 BB Gross or 1 BB Net format.
The Gross team contest had the team from Laconia led by Chris Houston came in with an 8 under par 64 to take the top spot. His team consisted of Mike Handrahan, Steve Wainwright, and Pat Hesseltine. Second place went to the team from About Golf with Pro Matt Delois and teammates, Jim Cilley, Brett Wilson, and Dan Doyle. They came in with a 7 under 65.
The Net team contest saw the teams from Atkinson, Ridgewood, and Whip Poor Will all come in at 10 under to tie for the top spot. The team from Atkinson was led by Peter Doherty, with his other teammates Paul Doherty, Jim Doherty, and John Medvecky. Ridgewood was led by Jay Pollini. His team consisted of Tim Melanson, Greg Smith, and Russ Lyon. Jim Gunnare led the team from Whip Poor Will with teammates Al Moretti, Michael Jonis, and Mike Fournier.
The Professional division saw Jay Pollini come in with a 5 under 67 to take first place. This is Jay’s 2nd win in a row and now leads the NHC Player of the Year points race with one event to go. Jay had 6 birdies and only 1 bogie to shoot that score. Sam Read of Den Brae shot a 1 under 71 to come in 2nd place alone. Dan Kish of Atkinson and Brett Smestad of Rochester shot 1 over 73’s to tie for 3rd place. Eric Sandstrum of Keene and Chris Houston of Laconia shot a pair of 74’s to tie for 5th. Three players tied for 7th place with the score of 75. They were Lucas Langelier of Cochecho, Allison Mitzel of Laconia, and Cory Mansfield of Derryfield. Sam Cody was alone in 10th place shooting a 76.
