YORK, Maine – The second event of the 2025 Stroke Play Series for the New England Assistants’ Association unfolded at the historic York Golf & Tennis Club on May 20th, where 30 Assistants from across the section were met with classic New England Spring conditions and a demanding course layout. Rising to the top of a competitive field were Eric Aguiar of York Golf and Tennis Club, and Brandon Singer of Abenaqui Country Club, who both carded rounds of 3-over-par 73 to share medalist honors.

Aguiar leveraged his familiarity with the host course to navigate tricky pin placements and shifting winds, with a steady round consisting of 13 pars, one birdie, and four bogeys. While Singer delivered a composed, steady round marked by four birdies on holes 1, 9, 11, and 13, the most birdies recorded any player in the field. Their matching scores of 73 reflected both their skill and determination on a day when low numbers were hard to come by. Despite challenging conditions, players managed to dominate the short par-5 8th hole, posting a scoring average of just over par at 5.09. In stark contrast, the uphill par-4 16th proved brutal, with a scoring average of 5.21. Only seven players managed to play it at par or better.

Finishing just one shot back in a tie for third were Fergus Keane of Boston Golf Club, and Nolan Donze of Golf Academy of New England, each posting 4-over-par 74. Thank you to York Golf and Tennis, Head Golf Professional, Mike Pratt, PGA and his team for putting on yet another spectacular event.
