Williston, VT –  A beautiful day for golf as the Vermont Chapter Pro – Am season tees off at Williston Golf Club. The golfers were excited to get the season underway  as they raced out to their holes for a 10:00 am shotgun start. Williston Golf Club showed up strong at their home course, fielding three teams Todd Trono, Reece Delaire, and Michael Amendola as well as three teams from Golf Garage VT David Jankowski, Kellen Peery, and James LeClair.

The team game this week was two best balls of four, one gross, one net (can’t be the same ball). With this format, it requires a lot of birdies to try to separate your team from the field. The home course advantage helped Michael Amandola and Williston Golf Club of Peter Davaris, Jay Corbett, Glen Burroughs, shot an 11 – under par round to win by two shots over the field. Coming in a close second with a round of 9 – under par was John Cleanthes from Haystack Golf Club and his team of Tom Juknis, Marc Saracino, Kevin Comeau. Right behind them in third place with a round of 8 -under par, Justin Kumpulanian from Middlebury College and his team of Colin McCaigue, Henry Harrison, Charlie Schulman. A three way tie for forth place between Spruce Peak Golf Club, Williston Golf Club (Delaire) and Golf Garage VT (Peery) with rounds of 7 – under par.

In the Individual Pro side of things, a familiar name returns to the top of the leaderboard as David Jankowski (Golf Garage) shot an impressive 3 – under par round of 68. With Michael Amendola (Williston GC) three shots back with an even – par round 71 in second place. Three way tie for third place between Roger King (Sugarbush GC), Brennan Earls (VT National), and Kellen Peery (Golf Garage) with rounds of 3 – over par 74. Rounding out the top ten was Justin Kumpulanian (Middlebury College) 4 -over 75, Jason Sherman (Kwini Club) and Reece Delaire (Williston GC) 5 – over 76, James LeClair (Golf Garage) and Todd Trono (Williston GC) 8 – over 79.

The Vermont Chapter would like to thank everyone who played in the Pro- Am event at Williston Golf Club this year. A special thanks to Williston Golf Club and their staff, Jeff Murray Club President Todd Trono PGA, Reece Delaire PGA,, and Larry Keefe, VGCSA Superintendent for making this event possible.
