Williston, Vt. – Yesterday, Williston Golf Club played host to the Vermont Chapter’s first Pro Am of the 2025 season. The 12 teams teeing off starting at 9 am were tested with high winds from their first tee shot. Throughout the morning the winds kept up until calmer conditions swept in with the afternoon sunshine. Despite all of the rain over the past few days, the golf course stood up well and provided a hearty test as the Vermont Chapter spread its wings for another season.

Williston Golf Club, on one of their three representative teams led by Assistant Professional Michael Amendola, took first prize with a solid seven under par round of 135, narrowly beating out Montcalm GC and Lake Morey CC by two and three shots, respectively. Amendola, along with his amateurs Jay Corbett, Peter Davaris, and Wes Mitchell-Lewis, plodded their way through a tough opening nine holes before flourishing on the back nine en route to a two shot victory. Amendola’s three birdies on 12, 14, and 16 helped lead the way.

Montcalm Golf Club, just across the Connecticut River in Enfield, New Hampshire, took solo second at five under, 137. Erik Lindahl and his team of Max Hagan, Todd Trepess, and Chip Fleischer put up a good showing. Rounding out third and fourth were the teams from Lake Morey CC and Reece Delaire’s team from Williston GC.

Despite a wonderful round of 73 from Kellen Peery (Golf Garage VT), it was Michael Amendola’s three under round of 68 which took the individual professional honors. An even par front nine in tough conditions opened the doors to a stellar back nine in which Amendola ran away from the field to a five shot victory. Peery took second place and was followed by Jason Sherman of the Kwini Club and Erik Lindahl of Montcalm GC in third and fourth place, respectively.

A special shout out as well to Jeff Houle for carding an ace at the 221 yard par three 13th hole at Williston. Golfers familiar with Williston GC know that a hole-in-one on the 13th is no easy feat. Congratulations to Jeff!

Special thanks to General Manager Todd Trono, PGA and Head Golf Professional Reece Delaire, PGA and their entire team at Williston Golf Club for their hospitality. Thank you as well to Superintendent David Keefe for presenting the course in outstanding early-season conditions! Next up for the Vermont Chapter is the The Queechee Club Pro-Am on May 19th.
