BOYLSTON, Mass. — TJ Anthoine, PGA, of The Quechee Club headlines the list of 2024 Vermont Chapter Award Winners as the recipient of the Golf Professional of the Year Award.
Anthoine is entering his 9th season at The Quechee Club and is currently serving in the role of Executive Director of Golf and Recreation Sports. Anthoine is incredibly passionate about the game of golf and continually translates that passion towards his role at The Quechee Club as well as those within his professional community.
Anthoine is known for his staff- and membership-centric leadership. While there are many examples of this, the most poignant came to the forefront this past July when Vermont experienced catastrophic flooding, resulting in significant damage to Quechee’s golf courses, which sit adjacent to the Ottauquechee River.
The Quechee Club was forced to reimagine its entire operations, including a complete rebuild of all golf programming. Under Anthoine’s leadership, the club was able to open nine holes just days after the flood and eventually a hybrid of 18 holes until the fall, when Quechee’s Highland course was available for play.
Additionally, through Anthoine’s collaborative network of golf professionals in New England, he was able to develop a reciprocal program where Quechee members could travel and play other courses while the club underwent its rebuilding process. Through his quick thinking and capable leadership, Anthoine is credited with enabling member play to continue within days of a natural disaster and, most importantly, without any loss of jobs among the club’s staff of more than 40.
Anthoine prioritizes involvement within the NEPGA as well, holding a number of past roles on the Education Committee and Assistants Association and ensuring that The Quechee Club is always a welcoming location to hold Chapter, Section, and state golf association events.
Anthoine is one of eight individuals to earn recognition for their service and dedication to their profession as the Vermont Chapter announced its full slate of 2024 award winners. The Chapter looks forward to celebrating these recipients throughout the 2024 season.
