Quincy, Mass. – The New England PGA hosted the Granite Links Pro-Am on Monday, April 28th at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Mass. 31 New England PGA Professionals came out to participate in the event on the beautiful Spring day. NEPGA partner, Cleveland/Srixon was on site to support the first event in the season-long Cleveland/Srixon Pro-Am Points Race! They hosted a closest to the pin contest on the 188-yard, par-3, 15th hole. James Antonelli, PGA (Marshfield CC) finished at the top of the leaderboard, with a 3-stroke victory, finishing at 3-under, 68.
Antonelli carded six birdies on his way to victory. He made the turn at 2-under and started the back nine with a birdie on the par-4 10th hole. He finished the day with one final birdie on the par-5 18th hole to capture the victory.
Lou Rivers, PGA (Agawam Hunt) led his team to a first place finish in the 2 BB of 4, 1 Gross +1 Net division, as they shot a combined 14-under. He was joined by amateurs: Matt Burke, Billy Munzert, and Jeff Maher.
Four NEPGA Professionals tied for second place in the Professional Division, shooting even par-71 through the Quincy and Milton courses: Ae Cahill, PGA (Ae Game Golf), Brendon Ray, PGA (Point Judith CC), Nick Tedeschi, PGA (Granite Links GC), and Todd Scarafoni, PGA (Bass Rocks GC).
Ray also led his team to a second place finish in the 2 BB of 4, 1 Gross +1 Net division, as they shot a combined 12-under. He was accompanied by amateurs, John Cannon, Mike Chase, and Mark Kissel.
After opening the day with a birdie on the par-5 first hole, Ray went on to card three bogeys, making the turn at 2-over. He carded back-to-back birdies on the par-5 13th hole and par-4 14th hole and closed the day with birdies on 17 and 18 to capture a share of first place.
Cahill made the turn at 2-over and birdies on 13 and 16 lifted him to an even-par finish as he joined the top of the leaderboard.
After making the turn at 2-over, Host Professional, Nick Tedeschi, finished the day strong with birdies on the par-5 13th hole, par-4 16th hole, and a final one on 18 left him at an even-par for the day in the share for first place overall.
Scarafoni started the day with a birdie on one and made the turn at even-par. A couple bogeys and two birdies on his scorecard through the back nine helped him finish at the top of the leaderboard.
Chris Kirrane, from 15th Golf Club, won the closest to the pin contest held by Cleveland/Srixon on the 15th hole at 9’11”. His team was led be Bradford Sherman, PGA.
