MARSTON MILLS, MA – On Tuesday, Cape Cod Chapter Professionals and their senior counterparts were treated to a long awaited beautiful day of weather at Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Course. After the first version of the event was halted due to inclement weather on August 15th, the field was fortunate enough to see blue skies and pristine course conditions for their second go around at The Cape Cod Chapter Pro-Senior.

COMPLETE RESULTS

In the 1BB of 4 Gross competition, Lucky 7-under was the number to reach, with three teams finishing at that mark to take a share of the victory. First to post the impressive score was Mark Kitchen’s LeBaron Hills team, who combined to card a flawless back nine of 5-under 30 and set the pace for the rest of the field. Hot on LeBaron Hills’ heels was the Auburn Driving Range crew led by professional Rick Karobowski, who rattled off 8 birdies against a bogey while playing in the group behind Kitchen. The Ridge Club seniors, helmed by Matt Baran, were in search of a birdie on the 18th to reach the elusive 8-under number, but settled for a par and a share of first with their own 7-under 64.

It was looking like another three way knot at the top in the Net division, as three teams were tied at 10-under 61 before Brad Sherman’s 15th Golf Club team signed for a sizzling winning score of 12-under 59 in one of the final groups of the day. Among the squads that Sherman and company pushed into a tie for second were Cranberry Valley Golf Course (Bob Miller,) LeBaron Hills Country Club (Mark Kitchen,) and Hillview Golf Course (Carl Marchio.)

The Individual Professional leaderboard was full of red numbers, as four professionals finished under par on the day. In a tie for third were Rick Karbowski and Frank Leja (The Club at New Seabury,) who each made four birdies en route to firing 1-under 70’s around the Mark Mungeam designed gem. Shayne Sakson of Ocean Edge Golf Club edged Karbowski and Leja by a shot thanks to an eagle on the 18th, signing for a 2-under 69 that left him alone in second place. The individual victory was secured by Matt Baran, who crept into 4th in The CCPGA Dutch Wessner points standings with a 4-under 67 that included 5 birdies.
