Winchester, Mass. – The 2025 New England PGA season has been full of exciting moments, culminating today in Winchester, Mass. with the New England PGA Stroke Play Series Finals at Winchester Country Club. Coming into the day there were multiple season-long races up for grabs, as well as a single-day Championship.
Winchester CC Director of Instruction, Eric Barlow, PGA took home the 18-hole stroke play victory, shooting 1-under, 70. He carded 5 birdies on the day. He made the turn at 2-over and went on to put up three birdies on the back nine, on the par-5 12th hole, and par-4 16th and 17th holes to pull away with the 3-stroke victory.
Liam Friedman, PGA (Wollaston GC) finished in solo second place, shooting 1-over, 72. Friedman traded a birdie on the par-4 4th hole for a bogey on 6 and made the turn at even-par. A double bogey on the par-5 12th hole put him at 2-over, before one final birdie on the par-5 13th hole brought him back to 1-over overall for the final second place finish.
Eric Higgins took home 3rd place at 2-over, with 4 birdies on his scorecard over the 18 holes. Three players finished tied for 4th place overall: Tyler Piekarski (Button Hole GC), Jeff Martin, PGA (Wollaston GC), and Ed Kirby, PGA (The Aquidneck Club).
Coming into the day, Kirby was at the top of the standings for the 2025 Stroke Play Series season-long points race with Friedman just behind him in the 3rd place slot. Friedman’s performance today gave him a 92-point victory in the season-long Points Race, finishing the season with 2,800 total points.
The NEPGA Rolex Wogan Play of the Year race came to a close today, and Kirby’s finish was enough to earn himself the crown. He took the title by an 88-point margin over Friedman, with a final total of 3,242 points over 9 events played.
