PLYMOUTH, MA — Jesse Schechtman and his Barnstable Golf team put together a stellar performance to capture the gross division title at the annual Cape Cod Pro-Lady Championship on June 25th. Taking on a competitive field at White Cliffs Country Club, Schechtman teamed up with Jackie Duffy, Pat Gremo, and Ginny Turner to fire a 3-under par 59 in the 1 Best Ball of 4 Gross format. The group leaned on a brilliant, 2-under, back-nine 27 to edge past Frank Leja and his squad from The Club at New Seabury, who finished in solo second place at 2-under par 60. A four-team logjam consisting of squads led by Shayne Sakson, Cam Kratovil, Gregg Richbourg, and Chip Johnson finished tied for third at 1-under par 61.
In the individual professional competition, a tight battle at the top resulted in a two-way tie for first place. Thomas Rooney of LeBaron Hills Country Club and Gregg Richbourg of Cape Cod National Golf Club both carded rounds of 2-over par 64 to share the professional title. Shayne Sakson of The Ridge Club finished in solo third place with a 5-over par 67.
Richbourg’s strong play also carried his Cape Cod National squad—Sara Lou Sherman, Nancy Craven, and Debbie Nelson—to a dominant victory in the 1 Best Ball of 4 Net division. The team combined for a blistering 11-under par 51, pairing a front-nine 27 with an exceptional 24 on the back half to clear the field by three strokes. A four-way tie for second place in the net division at 8-under par 54 featured the teams led by Jesse Schechtman, Cam Kratovil, Patrick Ghelfi, and Thomas Rooney.
The Cape Cod Chapter extends its sincere appreciation to White Cliffs Country Club and Host PGA Professional Rick Baptist for their exceptional hospitality. We would also like to express our gratitude to John Fagan and Wilson for their continued partnership to the Chapter and its professionals.
