Dorset, VT – A beautiful day helped kick off the Dorset Field Club Pro-Am. With a field of 32 teams playing this week there was a lot of golf to be played. Host Professional Patrick Berry was the first team out on the course and set the clubhouse lead at 4-over par 74. As the day went on the clouds rolled in and winds started to pick up. The afternoon field finished in the rain and the players had to grind it out through the elements.
An impressive round from Country Club of Vermont’s David Bennett 5-under par 65 to beat his assistant, Aidan Melville by 6 shots. Bennett had 7 birdies and an eagle to help him hold off the field. Curt Goldsberry (The Quechee Club), Susan Fasodlt (Dorset Field Club), and Pete Weatherby (Manchester Country Club) had a three way tie for third with 2-over par 72. Rounding out the top 10, David Jankowski (Golf Garage VT) had a round of 3-over par 73, Patrick Berry (Dorset Field Club) 4-over par, Sean Toof (Stowe Mountain Club) 5-over par 75, James Leclair (The Quechee Club) 6-over par 76, Tyler Smith (Newport Country Club), Matthew Closter (Woodstock Country Club), Brennan Earls (Vermont Golf Association) and Kevin Casby (Rocky Ridge Golf Club) 7-over par 77.
In the team game this week, the format of two best balls one gross plus on net, with the field producing some impressive scores. Erik Lindahl and his team from Montcalm Golf Club, Pat Norden, Todd Trepess, Doug Daniels shot 14-under par 126. David Bennet and his team from Country Club of Vermont, Mike Pucillo, Bill Reedy, Bob Bleimeister were not far behind with a score of 10-under par 130 to come in second place. Rounding out the top 7 teams we have Jason Sherman and Golf Garage VT, Jeff Kenneso, Brian Abrahamson, Travis Mott shot 8-under 132, Curt Goldsberry and The Quechee Club, Michael Corbally, Eric Gode, Chet Marcus, Susan Fasodlt and Dorset Field Club, Lisa Kelly, Regan Cherna, Eileen Whitson, Mike Slayton and Cedar Knoll Country Club, Doug Thorburn, Matt Holmes, Mike Wehner shot 6-under par 134. John Cleanthes and Haystack Golf Club, Tom Juknis, Kevin Comeau, Marc Saracino, Sean Toof and Stowe Mountain Club, Mark Mayer, Paul Mayer, Jace Molinari, Dustin Ribolini and The Quechee Club, Jay Zanleoni, Zach Temple, Glenn Micalizio, and Tyler Smith and Newport Country Club, Austin Giroux, Henry Delabruere, Dawson Cote all shot 5-under par 135.
