Manchester, VT – Sixteen of Vermont’s top PGA Professionals teed it up at historic Ekwanok Country Club this week for the 2025 Vermont Chapter Match Play Championship. Spread across two days, the match play continues to be one of the best events of the season.

Day one brought overcast skies and a comfortable mid-60s, perfect conditions for championship golf. Players battled through both the opening round and the quarterfinals, and the bracket quickly saw its share of drama. Defending champion David Jankowski advanced through the first round, defeating TJ Anthoine, but fell in the afternoon session to Quechee Club’s Dustin Ribolini, 3&2. Another storyline came in the form of Susan Fasoldt, who edged out Williston’s Michael Amendola in the round of 16 before bowing out in a marathon quarterfinal against Kevin Bennison that lasted 19 holes. Bennison, out of Burlington Country Club, proved steady throughout the day and secured his place in the semifinals, defeating Mike Slayton before his victory over Susan Fasoldt.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Golf Garage’s Kellen Peery advanced smoothly past John Cleanthes in the first round and Brennan Earls in the second, before running into Curt Goldsberry in the semifinals. Goldsberry, representing The Quechee Club, handled his matches with confidence, knocking out Roger King in the opener and Ryan Howard in the quarters before his 1 up victory over Peery to book a spot in the championship match.

Day two began with promise but quickly turned into a wet grind, with heavy rain soaking Ekwanok and making conditions unplayable. Both semifinals, however, reached their conclusion in dramatic fashion. Bennison edged Ribolini by the slimmest of margins, 1 up, while Goldsberry outlasted Peery on the final green with a 30 foot par putt to seal the deal. The championship match between Bennison and Goldsberry was unable to be played and will now be contested during the upcoming Pro-Pro at Country Club of Vermont on September 29.

A special thank you goes out to the staff at Ekwanok Country Club for hosting the Vermont Chapter. Despite difficult weather on day two, the course provided a wonderful stage for one of the Chapter’s most exciting events of the season.

The Vermont Chapter returns to action at Country Club of Vermont on September 29 for the Pro-Pro, which will also feature the conclusion of this year’s Match Play Championship. Stay tuned for the crowning of our 2025 Match Play Champion.
