East Providence, R.I. – The New England PGA hosted the 2024 Pro-Am Championship at Agawam Hunt on a beautiful Tuesday following Memorial Day. 49 teams came out to play in the 36-Hole, Four-Ball Stroke Play event. The two rounds were held as shotgun starts at 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The NEPGA welcomed partner Golf Scorecards, Inc. & Pride Sports.
The team of Rich Berberian, Jr., PGA (Vesper CC) and Derek Wayman took home the cup, shooting 17-under, 121, over 36 holes. The duo led the way after the first round as the shot a 7-under, 62 with 8 birdies through the first 18 holes. They added an impressive 10 more birdies through the second round to clinch the victory.
Cory Mansfield, PGA (Derryfield CC) and his partner, Austin Fox, along with the team of Dan Venezio, PGA (Portland CC) and Andrew Slattery tied for second place overall, shooting 9-under, 129s over the 36-hole Championship. Mansfield and Fox were tied for second place heading into the second round at 4-under, 65. Six more birdies through the second 18 helped them hold on to a share of the second place spot. Venezio and Slattery were tied for 15th place after the first 18 holes of the day, at 2-under, 67. They turned it on in the second round, posting 8 birdies through the final 18 for a share of second place.
The teams of Andrew Ingham, PGA (Country Club Enterprises) and Alex Stimpson, Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC) and Christian Emmerich, as well as host professional, Louis Rivers, PGA (Agawam Hunt) and Bruce Heterick all tied for fourth place overall, shooting 8-under, 130s, over the two 18-hole rounds.
The Ingham, Stimpson duo finished round one tied for seventh place at 3-under before putting up six birdies through the second 18 to claim a share of fourth place overall. Dully and Emmerich were also tied for seventh place after the opening 18 holes before putting up five birdies in the second round to finish T4 overall. Rivers and Heterick were also in the race in the T7 spot at the end of round one. They birdied two holes on the front and three on the back during the final 18 to earn the tie for fourth place.
