BOYLSTON, Mass. – Two teams shot a combined 10-under par, 134, to claim the 2022 NEPGA Pro-Pro Stroke Play Championship over 36-holes of golf on Monday, July 11 at the Haven Country Club. Matt Arvanitis (Southern N.H. University) and Rich Berberian (Vesper CC) went four-under in round one and six under in round two to claim a share of the one-shot victory with a total score of 134. Daniel Wilkins (Laconia CC) and Danny Kish (Atkinson Resort & CC) shot 5-under 67’s in both rounds to claim a share of the top spot in the event.

FULL RESULTS

Arvanitis and Berberian started the day on the first hole and shot an even-par, 36 on the front nine before posting four birdies on the back nine to finish round one 4-under, 68. They kicked off round two on the 10th tee and added birdies on 12, 14, and 17 to make the turn at 3-under. Four more birdies and one bogey on the front nine finished the duo at 10-under overall to take home the cup.

Kish and Wilkins birdied two holes on the first nine of the day to make the turn at 2-under. They added three more birdies on the back to finish round one 5-under. The team started the second round on hole 10, posting three birdies on the first nine, adding four birdies and two bogeys on the back to finish 10-under overall and tied for first place.

Todd Scarafoni (Bass Rocks GC) and Liam Friedman (Wollaston GC) shot a combined nine-under par in the event to take home solo third place. The pair carded respective rounds of 3-under and 6-under in the tournament to beat out the fourth place teams of Chip Johnson (Hatherly CC)/John Hickson (Northport GC), Matt Zdon (Belmont CC)/Frank Dully (Kernwood CC), Nick Jagoe (Wanumetonomy Golf &CC)/ Shawn Warren (Falmouth CC-ME),   and Eric Barlow (Winchester CC)/Tom Tobey (Sandwich Hollows GC) by one shot.

In their opening round 69, Scarafoni and Friedman started on hole 10, birdied four holes to make the turn at -4. On the front side, they posted one bogey on hole eight to come in with a 37 for a first-round final, 69. The pair picked up the momentum in the second round, with three birdies on the front nine, making the turn at 2-under. They added birdies on 12 and 13 and an eagle on 14 to go -4 on the back nine and push the overall score to 9-under par, 135 for second place.

Johnson and Hickson started the first round on the first hole, shooting a 3-under 33 with four birdies. They started the back nine with two bogeys before posting birdies on 12, 14, 16, and 17 to finish the first round 5-under. The duo scored a 3-under 69 in round two, posting five more birdies on the day to capture a share of fourth place with an 8-under total score of 136.

Zdon and Dully also shot an 8-under 136 through the 36 holes of golf. The duo was the first group off the 10th tee in round one. They started the day with an eagle on hole 12 and added a birdie on the 14th to make the turn at 3-under.  They birdied three more holes on the first nine of the second round and added two more on 11 and 14 to finish round two 5-under for a total score of 136 (-8) and a share of fourth place.

Jagoe and Warren shot 5-under in the first round and 3-under in the second round to finish -8, 136 overall, sharing a spot in fourth place as well. The duo put up three birdies on the front nine in the first round to make the turn at 3-under and added two more birdies on the back to head into round two at -5. They started round two on hole 10, added birdies on 12 and 13 and finished the front nine 1-under to finish -8 overall.

Barlow and Tobey shot 6-under in the first round and 2-under in the second round to finish 8-under overall for another fourth-place spot. They started the day on hole 10, making the turn at 3-under with three birdies. They added three more birdies and one bogey on the front nine to finish round one 6-under. The duo shot an even par on the front nine of round two and went 2-under on the back to finish 8-under overall for a share of the fourth place spot.
