PEABODY, Mass. – The 2022 New England PGA season has been full of exciting moments, culminating today in Peabody, Mass. with the Avidia Cup Finals at Salem Country Club. Coming into the day there were multiple season-long races up for grabs, as well as a single-day Championship. Rich Berberian (Vesper CC) left with the hardware as he shot a two-under to claim the 2022 Avidia Cup Final Championship title.
Starting the day, Berberian was sitting in first place for the Avidia Cup season-long standings and third place in the Rolex Wogan Player of the Year standings. He carded three birdies on the front nine and made the turn at two under. A pair of birdies and bogeys on the back gave him the final two-under 70 for the win.
Eric Barlow (Winchester CC) claimed second place at the Avidia Cup Final, shooting a one-under 71. He was even through the front nine with birdies on the par-3 third hole and par-5 fifth hole. A bogey on 12 put him at one-over, but he finished strong with birdies on the 14th and 17th hole to finish one-under overall.
Lou Rivers (Agawam Hunt Club) finished in solo third place, shooting an even par-72. He carded two birdies on the front and made the turn at one under. He moved to four-under with birdies on 11, 12 and 13, but four bogeys on 14 through 17 finished him even overall.
Shawn Warren captured his fifth Rolex Wogan Player of the Year Title (2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2022) as he finished tied for 8th place, shooting three-over on the day.
