NORTON, Mass. – The New England PGA and the Massachusetts Chapter kicked off the 2023 season as TPC Boston played host to the annual 6,6,6 Tournament on a beautiful April afternoon.

76 New England PGA Professionals convened at the former PGA Tour stop to participate in a unique early season format; 6 holes of fourball stroke play, 6 holes of select drive/alternate shot, and 6 holes of scramble.

Vesper Country Club’s Rich Berberian Jr. and James Scales fired a impressive round of 5-under 67 to take home the overall title. The duo posted six birdies and only one bogey on their way to the victory. In a tie for second place at 3-under 69, were the teams of Rob Bradley (Brockton CC) & Tom Rooney (LeBaron Hlls CC) as well as Frank Leja & Andrew Stolze who both represent The Club at New Seabury.

Champions were also crowned in each of the three individual formats. Berberian & Scales finished in a tie for first place in the select drive/alternate shot with Bradley and Rooney. Each team finished 2-under par for the most difficult six hole stretch of the day.

In the scramble portion, Marshfield Country Club’s Alec Vozzella and Matt Daley posted an impressive 4-under par finish to take first place. Their victory came behind a eagle on the par-5 7th hole and back-to-back birdies on the 9th and 10th holes.

Lastly in the Fourball portion of the day, six teams finished in a tie for 1st place each posting a score of -2 under par.

On behalf of the entire Massachusetts Chapter, thank you to TPC Boston and Don Baldassare, PGA for hosting an incredible event to start the 2023 season.
