BOYLSTON, Mass. — The 2020 New England PGA tournament season officially came to an end on Monday with the Cyprian Keyes Pro-Pro 6-6-6. The Blackstone National GC duo of Patrick Beahn, PGA and Robert Bruso, PGA, ran away with a two-stroke victory with a 6-under par 66.
The two-player teams played bestball format on holes 1-6, alternate shot on holes 7-12, and scramble on holes 13-18.
The Blackstone pair was 4-under par in six scramble holes with an eagle on the par-5 18th to go with birdies on the 14th and 16th. They played both the best ball and alternate shot portions 1-under to post 66.
Two teams finished tied for second, two strokes behind Bruso and Beahn. Todd Cook, PGA (Milton Hoosic Club) and James Antonelli, PGA (Marshfield CC) posted 4-under 68 to match Ryan Peffer, PGA (Lynx Fitness Club) and Kevin Rhoads, PGA (The Country Club).
Kyle Dobbs (The Bay Club) and Frank Leja, PGA (New Seabury on Cape Cod) finished fourth at 3-under par.
While the rain held off, the 17-team field battled temperatures in the low 40s throughout the day. Nonetheless, players enjoyed one last competitive round, and camaraderie before saying goodbye to the 2020 NEPGA season.
