FOXBOROUGH, Mass.- The Massachusetts Chapter was back in action this Wednesday with their first Pro-Am of the season at Foxborough Country Club. The course was in excellent condition, however the difficult greens kept most teams hovering around even par in the 2 BB of 4 team competition. That is with the exception of  Blackstone National Golf Club who fired a 8-under 136 to win by four strokes.

COMPLETE RESULTS

This was the second consecutive victory in this event for Blackstone National who was led by PGA Professional Patrick Beahn. Starting their day on the 10th hole, Beahn and his amateur partners, Jim Cozza, Chris Cormier, and Mike Callahan got of to a quick start making eagle on the par-5 11th followed by three consecutive birdies on holes 12 through 14. After making their lone bogey of their first 9 holes, they added another birdie on the 16th and an eagle to go out in 7-under 65.

Holes 1 through 9 proved to be a tougher test for Blackstone National, but they were able to play solid golf to preserve their victory. The front started off well with birdies on holes 2 and 4, but they hit a speed bump on the difficult 5th and 6th holes making two consecutive bogeys. Beahn and company were able to recover playing the last three holes in 1-under par and finish at 8-under overall.

In a tie for second place at 4-under 140 were two teams with ties to the host course. The first being the team from Foxborough Country Club led by Assistant Professional Jared Tise. The second was the team from Agawam Hunt led by longtime Foxborough CC Head Professional Lou Rivers. Both teams used their course knowledge to put together fantastic rounds on a day where low scores were difficult to achieve.

Beahn’s strong play also carried over to the individual professional competition where he was the lone professional to shoot under par with a score of 1-under 71, recording a tournament high 4 birdies. Finishing in second place was Brockton Country Club’s Robert Bradley with a score of 1-over 73, followed by Rick Durocher and Shawn Durocher who finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively with scores of 74 and 76. Rounding out the top five was Chris Young of Thomson Country Club with a score of 77.
