STOWE, Vt.- Two champions were crowned on Monday at the Vermont Pro-Senior hosted by the Stowe Mountain Club.

COMPLETE RESULTS

The tournament featured three separate contests, 2 BB of 4 Gross, 2 BB of 4 Net, and Individual Professional. Stableford scoring was used for the event due to the difficult nature of the beautiful Stowe Mountain Club which challenges players with sloped fairways and blind shots.

Brattleboro Country Club led by PGA Professional Michael Zaranek came away victorious in the gross competition with a fantastic round of 11-under 133 which amounted to 47 points. Zaranek was joined on the team by his partners Jeff Houle, Wayne Wright, and Dave Evans. Brattleboro’s round was powered by a stretch on holes 4 through 8 where they made four eagles in five holes. Finishing in second place in the gross contest was the team from Williston GC led by Todd Trono.

The net competition was captured by The Kwini Club and Steve Gonsalves. Gonsalves was joined on his team by his partners Doug Hawley, Gene Lebeau and Mel Hawley. The Kwini Club finished with a total of 47 points to take home the victory. Their best play came on the front 9 which they played in 6-under par.

The Individual Professional competition was won by CC of Vermont’s David Bennett with finished with 42 points. Bennett completed all 18 holes, which is not required in stableford scoring, and shot a 6-under 66. Bennett made the turn at 2-under after making birdie on the 4th and 7th holes. He then followed that up on the back with 3 birdies an eagle to go along with one bogey.
