BRATTLEBORO, VT- Brattleboro Country Club played host yesterday to the Vermont Chapter’s first Pro-Am of the season. The home team, lead by PGA Professional Michael Zaranek fought through the difficult conditions to walk away victorious in the Team Competition.
Zaranek, who was joined by his amateur partners Jeff Houle, Ryan Kohler, and Wayne Wright, shot a 3-under 139 which left them one shot clear of the field. The Brattleboro team took advantage of the par 5’s, making eagles on both the 7th and 10th holes. They were then able to round out the day with a birdie on 17 to secure the victory.
In second place with a score of 2-under 140, was the team from Vermont National Country Club. Joining PGA Professional Sean Toof were his partners Robert Stewart, Roy Lesperance, and Susith Wijetunga. Toof and company made a late round charge for the title with two birdies in their last three holes, but ultimately fell one shot short of the lead.
The Individual Professional Competition was won by Jim LeClair of Lake Morey CC, who posted the low score of 77. LeClair was able to play solid round of golf on a day where conditions made scoring extremely difficult. In second place was Todd Trono (Williston GC) with a score of 78.
