PLYMOUTH, MA — The Cape Cod Chapter of the New England PGA brought together NEPGA professionals and young aspiring golfers at Squirrel Run Golf & Country Club on August 4th for the annual Pro-Junior Championship. Contested on the executive layout, the tournament provided a fun, fast-paced day of competitive golf designed to showcase the next generation of junior talent.
In the team Best Ball division, Jimmy Shalhoup and his squad of Duxbury Yacht Club Juniors put on an absolute clinic. The team posted a blistering 13-under par 44, pairing an opening 23 with a 21 coming home to secure a four-stroke victory. Host PGA Professional David Moore and his Squirrel Run Juniors claimed solo second place with a sharp 9-under par 48. The Bay Club at Mattapoisett made a strong showing near the top of the leaderboard, tying for third place at 7-under par 50 with teams led by Greg Kelly and Ben Egan.
On the individual professional side, Greg Kelly of the Bay Club at Mattapoisett set the standard for the field. Kelly carded a 7-under par 50, turning in nines of 26 and 24 to claim a five-stroke victory in the professional competition. Host professional David Moore grabbed runner-up honors with an even-par 57, while Ben Egan completed a strong day for the Bay Club staff by taking third place with a 1-over par 58.
