PLYMOUTH, Mass- White Cliffs Country Club played host to the annual Cape Cod Chapter Pro-Lady Championship on June 15th. The fantastic field of 22 teams began their round with cloudy skies, but ultimately the sunshine prevailed revealing stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Pro-Lady features a unique format from the usual Pro-Am circuit, crowning champions in three separate competitions. Richie Hasenfus and his teammates from Needham Golf Club prevailed in the 1 BB of 4 Gross contest shooting a winning score of 7-under 55. Hasenfus and company tore through the front nine holes, making six birdies to post a 6-under 27. The back nine, which features eight par-3’s, proved to be more of a challenge. The group made back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th hole, followed by five pars and a bogey. Ultimately, their strong play on the front nine secured their victory by two shots.
In second place was Sandwich Hollows GC and Tom Tobey (5-under, 57), followed by The Club at New Seabury and Frank Leja (4-under, 58).
The 1 BB of 4 Net division ended in a tie between Hyannis Golf Club led by PGA Professional Jesse Schectman, and The Club at New Seabury led by Brady Nash. Both teams played great rounds, finishing with a net score of 8-under 54 to split the victory. Five teams finished in a tie for 3rd place at 7-under 55, with LeBaron Hills and Ed Dobbins prevailing in a card-off on the backs of their 5-under par 24 on the back nine.
Frank Leja, of The Club at New Seabury captured the individual professional title recording a score on 1-over 63. Hatherly CC’s Chip Johnson finished in second place with a 3-over 65, followed by Ben Egan, Brady Nash, Tom Rooney, Tom Tobey, and Bobby Williams who finished in a tie for 3rd place at 4-over 66.
