NANTUCKET, Mass- The Cape Cod Chapter was met with a beautiful day as it hosted the Miacomet Spring Invitational on June 14th. After the event was postponed from its original date due to rain, blue skies prevailed on Nantucket while storms took place on the mainland.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Gregg Richbourg and his team from Cape Cod National prevailed by a single point in the team stableford competition over Bryce Huntt and the home squad from Miacomet Golf Course, posting an impressive score of 101 points.

The highlight of the day came from the Miacomet team when amateur Will Maier holed out from 170 yards to make an albatross on the Par-5 4th hole. Maier’s strong play helped propel Miacomet to a second-place finish, as he tied Chip Johnson (Hatherly CC) for the low round of the day with a 1-under 71.

Rounding out the top five spots in the team competition were Mark Kitchen (LeBaron Hill CC), Dieter Wiedmayer (Sankaty Head GC), and Tom Tobey (Sandwich Hollows GC).

The professional stableford competition saw another single point victory as Dieter Wiedmayer edged out Chip Johnson with a score of 42 points. Wiedmayer’s round was fueled by a pair of eagles on the 4th and 14th holes.

Johnson finished in second place with a score of 41 points, followed by Patrick Hurrie (The Ridge Club) and Tom Tobey who finished in third and fourth place respectively.
