PGA REACH New England is excited to continue its spotlight series dedicated to sharing the goodwill and support of local communities by our PGA Professionals. Chipping In trumpets the story of individual PGA Professionals and his or her efforts to differentiate their facility and personal PGA Brand within the community. This month, we share the story of  Justin Lawson, PGA of Brookline GC.

JUSTIN LAWSON, PGA

Brookline GC

Justin Lawson comes to the Town of Brookline after a long successful career in the private club industry, notably spending time in leadership positions at Nashua Country Club, Dedham Country and Polo Club, and Sankaty Head Golf Club. As the General Manager of the Brookline Golf Course, he oversees all daily operations and leads all future planning and capital projects. Justin focuses his managing efforts by positioning the golf course to be an important community center for the Town of Brookline, furthering its value to the town.

What is the most rewarding thing about giving back to the community?

Giving back to the community is truly one of the most rewarding things that I get to do. We create opportunities, whether they are golf or non-golf related, and to allow members of the community to enjoy themselves at the property reinforces the sweat equity of our investment.

What other organizations do you support?

Brookline Housing Authority, Girls Gone Clubbin, Boston Black Golf Association, and Fore the Ladies
How has giving back to the community helped to raise awareness of your facility?
Any time that we can invest time or resources into the community, the return on that investment is always a significant multiplier in return.
How do you determine which charities to support?
When looking at different charities, it’s important to research them, learn about their intentions and leadership to ensure the charity and golf course align.
Any recommendations on how someone can start to support their community?
Don’t wait for tomorrow, do something, anything today!
