PGA REACH New England is excited to continue its spotlight series dedicated to sharing the goodwill and support of local communities by our PGA Professionals. Chipping In trumpets the story of individual PGA Professionals and his or her efforts to differentiate their facility and personal PGA Brand within the community. This month, we share the story of  PJ Breton, PGA of Tatnuck CC.

Is there a personal cause or goal you would like to bring attention to?

PGA REACH New England

What is the name of the organization or program you would like to highlight?

Birdies 2 Benefit

What is the most rewarding thing about giving back to the community?

Before doing Birdies 2 Benefit, I had the pleasure of doing Golf Days at Boston Children’s Hospital along with other golf professionals. While doing that I met an incredible family and their son, Caleb. Caleb and I developed an instant friendship. I have kept in touch with the family to this day. To me it’s not just giving back, but also building relationships. Being able to see the kids’ faces at Boston Children’s when we are there, to forget about treatment or surgery for an hour and just be a kid was the best part of my day. Birdies 2 Benefit has continued to be my favorite day of the year as well. Being a part of a community like the NEPGA and PGA REACH New England is rewarding. Raising money to better the lives of others is why we do what we do. My ultimate goal is to find a cure for childhood illness and cancers so that children like my friends Caleb and Kaitlyn can enjoy being a kid and live happy and healthy lives!

What other organizations do you support?

Puppies and Golf, The American Heart Association, and The Murph Challenge

How has giving back to the community helped to raise awareness of your facility?

My members love to support me and my staff. I have the most generous and supportive membership. They love seeing how their club gives back and feel a sense of pride when Tatnuck is part of some great organizations.

How do you determine which charities to support?

I do what I love. Puppies and Golf (I love Golf and I love puppies), American Heart Association (Because of my mother-in-law and her struggles a few years ago), The Murph Challenge because I support the military in any way possible.

Any recommendations on how someone can start to support their community?

Ask how you can help. Ask around. Do not be afraid to get out there and help!
