Sam Cody of Stonebridge fired a NHPGA season low 6 under par 66 to edge Dan Wilkins of Laconia by a single stroke at The Owl’s Nest Resort Golf Course in Thornton on Monday. Cody tallied 6 birdies and an eagle including a run of 7 consecutive 3’s on his card to seal the win. Not to be outdone, Wilkins made 7 birdies of his own to finish at 67. Joe Finemore from Portsmouth Country Club, making his first trek around the Nest finished 3rd at 68. Sam Read of Den Brae was next at 70. Cory Mansfield and Brett Smestad rounded out the under-par scores with 71’s. Host Professional Bailey Nangle had one of his best rounds of the year, an even par 72.

The shot heard around the course was a Hole in One by Laconia’s amateur Rob Lavallee. It was the 1st of his career as he watched it disappear into the cup on the 14th Hole. Lavallee was playing with Professional, Chris Houston, Paul Burke and Scott Knowles.

Brett Smestad’s team from Rochester found it’s way to the top of the leaderboard in the Best Ball Gross Division with a 10 under par 62. Smestad was joined by Troy Joncas, Stacy Levesque and Jim Cilley. Jack Beaulieu, Assistant Professional from the host club, and his team featuring Trevor Delesdernier, Chris Ryan and Sean Ryan tied for 2nd at 8 under 64 with Taylor Stout from Nashua CC and his team including Pete Webber, Brian Klauber and Jim Horner,

On the Net side, Lewis White’s Candia Woods squad, Sam Wojichowski, Caleb Godin and Dave Remington took first place with an impressive 16 under par 56. Sam Read and his Den Brae crew of Caleb Hutchins, Matt Mercier and Roland Cullen were just 2 back at 58 followed by Laconia CC’s Dan Wilkins and his partners Randy Pike, Alan Beetle and Steve Grant at 60.

Thanks to Jim Swarthout, PGA Director of Golf at Owl’s Nest, Bailey Nangle, Head Professional who will be headed over to their newly redesigned Vineyard Course next season, Greg Person, Superintendent, and all the great staff at this unique facility who really have a good time on the job.
