FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Hydration was at a premium on Wednesday, as Foxborough Country Club hosted the 3rd Annual Massachusetts Chapter Scholarship Pro-Am at the start of a heat wave. It was a great day for a great cause, as this event benefits the children and step-children of PGA Professionals in the Massachusetts Chapter as they pursue higher education.
Scott Hickey and his team from Cyprian Keyes beat the heat, but couldn’t beat Agawam Hunt’s squad led by Lou Rivers, as both teams fired 6-under 138 to share the team title in 2 Best Ball of 4 competition.
Robert Bradley’s Brockton CC team finished their day at 5-under par, narrowly holding onto the final spot on the podium after outlasting Steve Fields and the Foxborough CC home team, who finished in 4th place at 4-under 140.
Hickey and Bradley’s success wasn’t limited to the team leaderboard, as they shared the individual professional title following an impressive pair of 1-over 73’s.
Bradley got to red numbers early on, making birdie on his 3rd hole of the day (#18) before closing with a slew of pars and two bogeys. Hickey had to battle back towards par after two early bogeys left him at 2-over through 4. Birdies on 12, 14, and 18 helped his cause, leading to an under par back nine and share of the victory.
On behalf of the entire Massachusetts Chapter, thank you to Foxborough Country Club and Head Professional Steve Field for being fantastic hosts. We would also like to thank our partners who helped to make this event possible, Wilson, Five Star Golf Cars and Boxto.
