FOXBOROUGH, Mass.- The Massachusetts Chapter was back in action this Wednesday with their 2nd Annual Scholarship Pro-Am at Foxborough CC. The Chapter’s Scholarship was established in 2022 and was awarded for the 1st time to six children of Massachusetts Chapter PGA Professionals to assist in their pursuit of higher education. Through the efforts of Wednesday, the Chapter was able to raise over $3000 for the Scholarship Fund.
It was a banner day for the PGA Professionals from Cyprian Keyes GC. The Cyprian Keyes team led by Shawn Durocher won the 2 BB of 4 team contest with the low score of 8-under 136. Durocher was joined on the team by Mark Eldridge, Ed Lindquist, and Al McCallum. Finishing in second place at 6-undr par was the Marlborough CC team led by Greg Farland; Granite Links GC led by Nick Tedeschi rounded out the top three at 5-under par.
Cyprian Keyes dominance continued in the individual professional contest. Rick Durocher shot the low score of the day, posting a 2-over 74. He made two birdies and four bogeys on his round, playing consistently on a difficult day condition wise. In a three-way tie for second place were Shawn Durocher, Scott Hickey (Cyprian Keyes GC), and Chris Young (Thomson CC).
The Massachusetts Chapter would like to thank Foxborough Country Club as well as Head Professional Steve Field, PGA, Assistant Professional Jared Tise, and Superintendent Michael Poch for hosting this event. As well as adidas Golf, Callaway Golf, PING, and Titleist who each donated items to help raise money for the Mass Chapter Scholarship.
