MATTAPOISETT, Mass – The 2024 Cape Cod Chapter schedule wrapped up in style on Monday, as 17 Pro-Am teams were treated to the spectacular conditioning of The Bay Club at Mattapoisett. Prior to play, Chapter professionals were able to reflect on this past season and look forward to the next at the annual Cape Cod Chapter Fall Meeting.
Temperatures were low as the transition from meeting to Pro-Am was made, but Steven Daly of Dedham Country & Polo Club quickly heated things up with his impressive play. After a strong start with a birdie on his second hole, he rattled off four more to finish with the winning mark of 2-under 69. Daly finished four shots clear of Liam Friedman (Wollaston Golf Club), Peter Ruymann (Marshfield Country Club), and Greg Yeomans (The Bay Club), who tied for second with their matching scores of 2-over 73.
Ruymann and Friedman’s individual performances translated to the team leaderboard, as their amateur counterparts helped them to a share of victory in the 2 Best Ball of 4 format. Team Marshfield got off to a slow start with a double bogey on their first hole (#9), and saw themselves sitting at even par through 12 holes. They proceeded to flip the switch into high gear and finished in a flurry, making four birdies and an eagle in their closing stretch to reach their 6-under team total.
Wollaston’s squad took a similar route to the top, stumbling out of the gates with a bogey on their starting hole (#13). Steady play helped them get to 2-under through 16 holes, but some last minute magic was needed to make a push into contention. Magic is what they got, carding clutch eagles on the final two holes to jump into a share of the lead at 6-under 136.
Thank you to Greg Yeomans, PGA, Ben Egan, PGA, and the entire Bay Club community for hosting a great day of business and golf for the Cape Cod Chapter. Additionally, thank you to Wilson Golf and John Fagan for their generous support of this event. It was a great season for the Cape Cod Chapter, and we’re looking forward to 2025 already!
