The Maine Chapter of the New England PGA held its annual Pro-Pro Stroke Play Championship on June 8 at Boothbay Harbor Country Club, where a strong field of PGA Professionals competed in one of the most popular team events of the season.

Playing under excellent conditions on Boothbay Harbor’s challenging layout, teams combined scores over 36 holes to determine the championship. Consistent play throughout the day proved to be the key to success, as several teams remained in contention heading into the final round.

The team of JW Parks’s Mike Dugas and Motocady’s Joe Finemore captured the championship with a two-round total of 8-under-par 134, following rounds of 64 and 70. Their opening-round 64 provided an early advantage. Mike Dugas birdied holes #2 and #3. Finemore added birdies on #6, #8, and eagled the par-5 ninth hole. For a blistering -6 30 on the front nine, along with -1 34 on the back nine. They followed it up with a steady afternoon performance to secure a four-shot victory.

Finishing in second place to their father Mike and his partner at 4-under-par 138 was the JW Parks’s brother team of Eric and Gavin Dugas, who posted rounds of 68 and 70. Boothbay Harbor’s Chad Penman and Brogan Kane claimed third place at 3-under-par 139 after rounds of 69 and 70.

A tie for fourth place at 2-under-par 140 featured two teams. Falmouth CC’s Sean Barrett and JJ Harris carded matching rounds of 70 and 70, while Northport’s John Hickson and Goose River’s Jeff Seavey closed with the low final round among the top finishers, a 2-under-par 69, to join the tie. Rounding out the top six were Webhannet’s Eric Higgins and Kirk Kimball, who finished at even-par 142 with rounds of 70 and 72.
