SCITUATE, Mass. – The New England PGA hosted its first–ever Parent-Child Scramble event at Widow’s Walk GC on Monday, August 7th. The Parent-Child event allowed PGA Professionals to invite one of their children, or one of their parents, to compete in a two-player scramble. For those competing with a child, there were three age divisions: ages 18+ (grouped with Pro + Parent teams), ages 13-17, and ages 12 and under. The event was a great opportunity for NEPGA Professionals to spend the day with family!
The father-son duo of Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC) and Sean Dully carded the low round of the day at 11-under, 61, to take home the title. The Dully team started the shotgun round on the first hole and made birdie on holes 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 to make the turn at 5-under. They collected six more birdies on the back, including the two par-3 holes, 11 an 14, and two par-5 holes, 14 and 18.
The Carlson team of David Carlson, PGA (Stow Acres CC) and Jacob Carlson took home solo second place, shooting 9-under, 63, on the day. They started the round on the 14th hole with a bogey. They posted back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes, and a bogey on 17 and another birdie on 1 put them at 1-under through 9. The duo posted impressive back-to-back eagles on the par-4 5th hole and par-5 6th hole. Another four birdies on the back gave them the final 9-under, 64 for second place overall.
Jeff Martin, PGA (Wollaston GC) and Cameron Martin rounded out the top three, shooting 8-under, 64 for solo third place. The Martin’s teed off just behind the Dully team and started strong with an eagle on the par-5 first hole. They went on to birdie three more holes on the front to make the turn at 5-under. Three more birdies on holes 10, 15 and 18 gave them the final 8-under for third place.
The NEPGA would like to thank Widow’s Walk GC Director of Golf, Ian Kelley, PGA and the entire Widow’s Walk GC staff for hosting a fantastic event!
