Concord, M.A. – Dave Einstein, PGA of The Hyannisport Club and Andrew Stolze, PGA of The Club at New Seabury tied for the top score in the 2025 New England PGA Stroke Play Series #4 at Nashawtuc Country Club on Monday, August 18th. With low breezes and clear skies for a perfect day, the group of 90 Professionals competed over 18 holes in the Individual Stroke Play event, with Einstein and Stolze claiming the top score with a 4-under, 68.
Stolze started his day off hot with back-to-back birdies on the first two holes. He stayed scorching and collected another 2 birdies on the front nine, making the turn at 3-under and keeping his strong play consistent for the rest of his round. Stolze did not stop dominating the course, posting 2 more birdies on holes 12 and 17, ending his performance with a total of 6 birdies. An unfortunate 3-putt on hole 18 brought his score to a 4-under, 68, maintaining the top of the leaderboard.
“I’ve been putting pretty good leading up to this,” Stolze explains. “I was glad to put together a good round today…This is hopefully a good tune for [Section Championship].”
Einstein gained his confidence early with a birdie on hole 1, and continued his performance shooting 3 birdies on the front nine. Einstein’s putter was his MVP, hitting the short ones with ease, especially on the back nine where he boasts a bogey-free 2-under on the scorecard, guiding his round to the top with Stolze.
“The team at Nashawtuc here, this place is in incredible shape,” Einstein exclaims. “I was thinking about everything other than golf…It really helped me stay in a good mindset because I wasn’t really thinking about the task at hand.”
Robert Bruso, PGA of Worcester CC and Kirk Hanefeld, PGA (LM) tied for third place, shooting an impressive 2-under, 70. Bruso’s back-to-back birdies on holes 3 and 4 powered his mindset throughout the day, and Hanefeld stayed consistent during his round, boasting a bogey-free front nine and ending off with 3 birdies.
Brian Spitz, PGA of PGA Tour Superstore- Braintree took the solo 5th spot, shooting 1-under, 71. Spitz highlighted his performance with birdies on holes 1, 9, and 18, using the spirit of the Nashawtuc CC clubhouse to his advantage.
Stolze, Einstein, Bruso, Hanefeld, and Spitz will all be showcasing their talent on September 2-4 at the New England PGA Section Championship, hosted at the Bay Club Mattapoisett and the Kitansett Club. Be sure to stay tuned for more information regarding the NEPGA’s most pristine event.
