MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New England PGA Section hosted the 2024 Pro-Superintendent Invitational on Wednesday, October 23rd at Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, N.H. 38 teams of New England Section PGA of America Golf Professionals partnered with their club Superintendents, came out to play in the two-player scramble tournament on a warm, late October day. Three teams left victorious, shooting 7-under, 63s for the low rounds of the day: The Ferncroft CC team of David Hache, PGA and Eamon Barrett, the Holly Ridge team of Darren Falk, PGA and Matt Cornuet, and the team from Blackstone National GC, Pat Beahn, PGA and Steve Lemieux.
Hache and Barrett started the shotgun round with a birdie on the 336 yard, par-4 first hole at Derryfield. They carded three more birdies on the front nine, all par-4 holes, making the turn at 3-under. The duo opened the back nine with a birdie on the par-4, 320 yard, 10th hole and finished the round with birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18 to capture a share of the victory at 7-under overall.
Falk and Cornuet started the round on the par-4 13th hole with a birdie. They carded three more birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18 to finish the opening nine holes at 4-under. They posted four more birdies and one bogey through the final nine to finish at 7-under in a share for first place.
Beahn and Lemieux started the round with a birdie on the 171 yard, par-3, 8th hole. The carded four more birdies through their first nine holes to move to 5-under. Birdies on holes 1 and 5, both par-4s, secured the final 7-under finish in a tie for first place.
Robert Hardy, PGA and his partner, Scott Lumb from Crystal Lake GC, shot 6-under, 64, to claim solo second place. Their scorecard was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 13th hole. They posted 4 more birdies to finish the round at 6-under overall.
