Joe Finemore of Portsmouth Country Club continued his red hot run by firing a 4 under par 68 to take the top spot at this week’s NH Chapter of the New England PGA Pro Am at Rochester CC. Host Professional Mitch Jefferson made 7 birdies on his round and tied Cory Mansfield of Derryfield for 2nd place with 3 under par 69’s. Brett Smestad also of Rochester CC, Bill Andrews of Portsmouth CC and Matt DeLois of About Golf all came in at even par 72 to tie for 4th.

The highlight of the day came from Eric Sandstrum, Keene CC, who made a Hole in One on #7. Sandstrum is coming off his recent Senior Chapter Championship victory and has been on a roll of his own recently.
Mitch Jefferson and the Gross Winners From Host Course Rochester CC
The Best Ball Gross competition went to the home squad of Jefferson, Jamie Ferullo, Kory Ferullo and Cody Stevens with a 10 under par 62. Andrews and his Portsmouth team of Grayson Waterman, Mark Labreque and Brian Blanchette tied for 2nd at -8 with Sandstrum, Andrew Loney, Jonah Murphy and Jacob Miller.
Laconia’s Chris Houston Plays His Approach to the Ninth
Eric Soderman’s Hoodkroft teams continue to pile up victories. Soderman was joined by Ryan Curtin, Jim Tokanel and Brian Nadeau to top the field on the Best Ball Net side with a 14 under par 58. The home team of Smestad, Jay Cleveland, Robbie Creteau and Sean Johnson were second at 60. A three-way tie for 3rd at 61 between the teams from Derryfield (Mansfield), Portsmouth (Finemore) and Crotched Mountain (Tom Borden) rounded out the top five.

Thanks to PGA Professionals Mitch Jefferson and Brett Smestad, Superintendent John Clark and all of the staff at Rochester for taking care of us. The forecast was dismal to say the least and somehow, not one umbrella had to open during this event.
