WELLESLEY, MA – The duality of a PGA Professional was on full display Tuesday, as Wellesley Country Club hosted both the annual Massachusetts Chapter Fall Meeting and an associated Pro-Pro Fourball competition. Chapter professionals spent the morning taking in discussions from leaders in the industry, and were greeted with a flawless October day as they stepped outside for a Noon shotgun start.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Wellesley still showed its teeth despite the beautiful weather, surrendering only four under par scores in the Team Fourball contest. Sneaking into the elusive red numbers was the team of Bill Cunningham and David Hache, representing Ferncroft Country Club, who used a late birdie on their 16th hole (#12) to finish at 1-under 69 and take solo 4th place. Their birdie was both timely and profitable, as it secured one of the two skins on the day.

Peter Ruymann and Matt Daley (Marshfield CC) grabbed the first spot on the podium thanks to their balanced attack of three birdies each, eventually carding a 67 around the historic par 70 layout. Finishing in solo second place was the duo of Nate Myers (Ipswich CC) and Joe Rocha (Golf Country) who kept a clean scorecard of four birdies and 14 pars. Team Myers/Rocha had their iron play firing on all cylinders, as three of their four birdies came on Wellesley’s difficult Par 3s.

Liam Friedman and Jeff Martin (Wollaston GC) added a circle to the card when it mattered most, as Friedman birdied their final hole of the day (#13) to seal the victory for Team Wollaston. The two combined for 5 birdies and avoided any blemishes en route to their winning score of 5-under 65.

On behalf of the entire Massachusetts Chapter, thank you to Hal Jacobs, PGA and the entire Wellesley Country Club community for welcoming us into your facility for a great day of business and golf. Additionally, thank you to the generous sponsors of this event, Callaway and Comparion Insurance.
