North Dartmouth, Mass. – The New England PGA hosted the 2024 NEPGA Senior Junior Championship at Allendale Country Club on Monday, September 23rd. The field of 28 New England PGA of America Golf Professionals came out to compete in the 4-ball stroke play event on a windy early fall day in North Dartmouth, Mass.
The duo of Liam Friedman, PGA (Wollaston GC) and Brian Smith, PGA (Nashawtuc CC) led the way, shooting a 7-under, 65 to claim the Championship title by a 1-stroke margin.
The team of Shawn Warren, PGA (Old Marsh CC) and Sean Barrett, PGA (Falmouth CC) along with the pairing of Frank Dully, PGA (Kernwood CC) and Eric Barlow, PGA (Winchester CC) tied for second place overall, shooting 6-under, 66s.
Friedman and Smith started the round on the par-3 third hole and carded their first birdie of the day. They carded four more birdies through the opening nine holes before posting an eagle on the par-4 13th hole. The duo closed out the round with a birdie on the 15th hole and bogeys on 17 and 18, but held onto the first place finish at 7-under overall.
Warren and Barrett teed off from the par-4 second hole and recorded an early birdie. Two more birdies on holes 5 and 6 moved them to 3-under through their first nine holes. The pair went on to card birdies on the par-5 11th hole, and par-4 13th and 16th holes to finish at 6-under overall for a share of second place.
Dully and Barlow started the day on the 5th hole, a par-3. They carded seven birdies and one bogey on the day to finish in the tie for second place at 6-under, 66.
