LINCOLN, R.I. – Dan Gillis (Nabnasset Lake CC) and James Scales (Vesper CC) carded the low rounds of the day one-under 71s to share a claim of the 2022 NEPGA Pro-Senior Invitational on Thursday, August 25th at Kirkbrae Country Club. Gillis and Scales edged Marlborough CC’s Greg Farland and Point Judith CC’s Brendon Ray by a single shot as the pair tied for second shooting even-par 72s.

Gillis started the round on the 8th hole. He was even through the first four holes before a bogey on 12 put him one-over. After shooting even par on holes 13-3 he sunk a hole in one on the par-3 fourth hole to claim the final one-under victory in the individual professional division.

Scales started on the 18th hole with a bogey. He birdied the sixth and 12th holes to go one-under with five holes to play. Bogeys on 14 and 15 put him at one-over but birdies on the final two holes finished him at one-under overall for a share of first place.

Farland started on the 10th hole and birdied the 11th. Bogeys on 14 and 15 put him at one over heading into the final nine of the day. Farland added birdies on the first and second holes and a bogey on eight gave him the overall even par-72 for a share of third place.

Ray kicked off the round on the 12th hole. A bogey on 14 and a double bogey on 17 put him at three-over through six holes. Birdies on the par-4 1st and 2nd holes brought him to one-over and another birdie on six gave him the even-par 72 final for third place.

Three professionals came in at two-over par to claim a share of fifth place: Scott Hickey (Cyprian Keyes GC), Chris Hulme (Newport National GC), and Tom Tobey (Sanwich Hollows GC).

In the gross team format, Cyprian Keyes, lead by Hickey, posted a best ball score of nine-under par, 63, to claim the victory. The team carded a total of nine birdies.

The Cyprian Keyes team edged Scales’ Vesper CC squad by a single shot in the gross team format. Scales’ team carded nine birdies and just one bogey.

In the net team format, The Cyprian Keyes team posted a net best ball score of -13 to claim the division. The carded 12 birdies, including an eagle on three.

The Marlborough CC team led by Farland and the Newport National Team led by Hulme tied for second place at -12 in the net team format. Farland’s team posted 12 birdies while Hulme’s team put up eight birdies and two eagles.
