FALMOUTH, ME- Falmouth Country Club played host to the Maine Chapter’s first Pro-Am of the season on Monday. Nineteen teams led by Maine PGA Professionals participated in the 2 BB of 4 (Gross + Net) competition. Goose River Golf Club secured the victory by firing a score of 12-under 132.
Goose River GC was led by PGA Professional Alex Plummer, he was joined by his amateur partners Mark Wallace, Daulton Wickenden, and Peter Lynch. After beginning their round with a bogey on the par-4 1st hole, the team from Goose River caught fire. They played holes three through eight in a collective 9-under par recording three birdies and three eagles, finishing the front at 9-under 63.
On the back nine, they recorded five birdies to go along with two bogeys and two pars to finish at 12-under and four shots ahead of the second place team.
Tee N’ Tee Golfland and PGA Professional David Grygiel shot 8-under 136 to finish in second place, one shot behind them was the host club Falmouth Country Club led by Head Professional Sean Barrett.
The Individual Professional competition was very tight with two players finishing at even-par 72, with John Hickson (Northport Golf Club) and Dan Venezio (Portland Country Club) each taking home a share of the victory. Hickson played an extremely clean round with two birdies, two bogeys, and fourteen pars, as did Venezio who recorded three birdies, three bogeys, and twelve pars. Sean Barrett finished one shot behind the lead with a round of 1-over 73 while also took home the Senior Point Quota finishing at -2 points.
