The NEPGA Professionals who finished within the top 60 scores will continue play in the final round on Thursday at Tedesco CC to determine who will come out on top as the 104th NEPGA Section Champion.

After shooting 2-over in her opening round at Ferncroft, Hawley went on to shoot 2-over at the par-70, Tedesco CC. She made the turn at an even-par 35 after trading a bogey on the par-4 6th hole for a birdie on the par-5 9th hole. She moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par-5 10th hole, but three bogeys on the back nine left her at 2-over, overall as she captured the victory.

“I played pretty steady,” said Hawley. “Ferncroft is more of a placement course… I played smart and picked the right clubs…Tedesco is a little more open, you can pull out the driver a little more,” she continued. “I want to thank Callaway, my sponsor, for backing me up… and also thank you to Titleist… I really enjoy getting to play with the other women in the Section”.

Kelly made the turn at 1-over with eight pars on his scorecard and one bogey.  He started the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 10th hole to move to even-par. He carded two more bogeys and two more birdies to stay at even-par, 70, and held onto the lead.

“I got off to a rocky start yesterday…had a nice bonus eagle on nine to get me back in the game, and then played a solid back nine to keep it going,” said Kelly. “Today at Tedesco, I got off to an even-keel start… and I just grinded it out throughout the day,” he continued. “The courses are playing great, conditions at both places are phenomenal… tomorrow I am just going to keep playing my game and try not to worry about anyone else”.

Boomer Erik (Boston Golf Club) currently sits in solo second place, shooting even-par 70 today at Tedesco CC, and 1-over overall. A birdie on the par-4 4th hole helped Erik make the turn at 1-under. He carded three bogeys and two birdies, including one final one coming up the par-4 18th hole. Three New England PGA of America Professionals currently sit at 2-over in a tie for third place: Jeff Martin, PGA (Wollaston GC), Bob Bruso, PGA (Worcester CC), and Rich Berberian, Jr., PGA (Vesper CC).
