FALMOUTH, Maine – Round two of the New England PGA Section Championship took place on Tuesday, September 1st at Portland CC and the Woodlands Club. The 6th NEPGA Women’s Section Championship concluded alongside round two at Portland CC. Seul-Ki Hawley, PGA (Winchester CC) was crowned the NEPGA Women’s Champion, shooting an even-par 70 in round one at The Woodlands Club, and 3-over, 73 at Portland CC today. After capturing her 4th Women’s Championship title, Hawley made the cut in the overall 106th Section Championship and will return to Portland Country Club for the final round on Wednesday, September 2nd.
Brendon Ray, PGA (Point Judith CC) came into round one tied for 8th place, shooting 2-over 72 in his opening round at The Woodlands Club. He climbed the leaderboard into a tie for 1st place overall, shooting a 1-over 71 at Portland CC today. Greg Kelly, PGA (Bay Club Mattapoisett) shot the low score of the day in round one at Portland CC, at even-par-70, and sat in a tie for second place heading into round two. He finished round two at 3-over following his 18 holes at The Woodlands Club, joining Ray at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Hawley’s second round performance also earned her a spot at the top of the leaderboard at 3-over through 36 holes.
Portland CC host Professional, Dan Venezio, PGA made the jump from T14 to T4 shooting +1, 71 today at his home course. 2025 Champion, Ed Kirby, PGA (The Aquidneck Club) and Zane Johnson, PGA (Bald Peak Colony Club) joined him in the top 4 at +1.
Mitch Jefferson, PGA (Rochester CC) who finished round one in the lead, is tied for 7th place just two strokes behind the lead, at 5-over. Jeff Martin, PGA (Wollaston GC), Bob Bruso, PGA (Worcester CC), Liam Friedmand, PGA (Wollaston GC), and Billy Hemstock, PGA (Nantucket GC) are all tied with Jefferson in the 7th place spot.
The final round of the 106th NEPGA Section Championship kicks off on Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:45 a.m. The event will be live streamed on the 1st tee and 18th hole by fore.tv. The cut line was set at T59, +16.
