WATERBURY, Vt. – Burlington Country Club’s David Jankowski and Ekwanok Country Club’s Alex Watson teamed up on Monday to win the Vermont Pro-Pro Championship.
The Championship was hosted by Country Club of Vermont and held in conjunction with the Chapter’s Fall Meeting. Each year the tournament serves as an opportunity for Vermont’s PGA Professionals to celebrate their camaraderie as the season comes to a close.
Jankowski and Watson put on an impressive performance, as they shot a 7-under 65 in the Fourball Stroke Play competition. The duo carded a total of 10 birdies on their round which led the field. Their best stretch of golf came on holes 7 through 10 where they made 4 consecutive birdies.
Finishing in second place was the team from the host course comprised of David Bennett and Aidan Melville who finished two shots behind with a 5-under 67. Melville started their round of with some fireworks as he holed out his second shot for eagle on the par 4 1st hole. They were able to tack on another eagle on the par-5 15th to go along with four birdies.
Finishing in third place was Cedar Knoll CC’s Mike Slayton and Vermont National CC’s Sean Toof who finished at 2-under 70. In a tie for 4th place was the teams of Rodeny Bicknell (Neshobe GC) and Larry Kelley (Five Star Golf Cars) in addition to Tom Mackey (Ekwanok CC) and Pete Weaterby (Manchester CC). Both teams finished at 1-under 71.
During the Fall Meeting, the Chapter elected its new Board of Directors. The newly elected officers are President Tom Mackey, Vice-President Dan Ruane, Secretary David Jankowski, and 1-year Director Sean Toof. The Chapter would like to congratulate all the newly elected officers and thank them for their service to the Chapter.
