Dorset, VT – The Vermont Chapter traveled just outside of Manchester this week for the 2025 Stroke Play Championship, hosted at historic Dorset Field Club. As the oldest continuously operating golf club in the country, Dorset provided a classic and scenic stage for the premier event of the season. With a field of 21 professionals, the course was as demanding as ever, but it was the heat that took center stage. A heatwave swept across the Northeast, pushing temperatures above 90 degrees both days. While the second round was eased slightly by a welcome breeze, conditions remained grueling throughout.

It was David Jankowski of Golf Garage VT who rose above the field to claim the title, carding rounds of 72 and 71 for a 1-over par total of 143. His steady performance across both days, particularly in the final round, earned him 50 points and the Vermont Chapter’s Stroke Play crown, his fourth consecutive chapter championship and sixth overall, a new record for the chapter. The trophy lifting performance, though, was not without stiff competition from the rest of the field.

Chapter newcomer Ryan Howard, from Mount Anthony Country Club, finished just one stroke back at 2-over for the championship, recording rounds of 73 and 71. Matching Jankowski’s even-par second round, Howard remained in contention throughout and earned 40 points with his solo second-place finish. His strong close on Tuesday showcased his grit, handling the heat and pressure of playing with Jankowski. It was a solid introduction to the chapter, his name will be one to watch in future championships.

Josh Upson of the Country Club of Vermont and the Quechee Club’s Curt Goldsberry tied for third at 4-over, both finishing with a total of 146. Upson backed up an opening 75 with a sharp 71, climbing into the top three and collecting 32 points. Goldsberry, meanwhile, tied the round of the tournament, a superb 1-under par 70 on Tuesday, after a tough first round of 76. His second round was highlighted by an eagle two at the reachable par 4, 3rd hole.

Rounding out the top five was Kellen Peery, of Golf Garage VT, who continued his phenomenal play in 2025. His first round 79 was a disappointment, but he followed it up with the round of the tournament, matching Curt Goldsberry’s 1-under par 70, for a total of 149.
